CONVICTION
Based on the true story of Carl Upchurch, a self made man who was
imprisoned much of his life. In prison Carl began to read the works
of Shakespeare and eventually earn a college degree. After being
freed in 1986, he established the Progressive Prisoners Movement
and the National Council for Urban Peace and Justice and organized
a summit between rival L.A. gangs The Crips and The Bloods.
Directed
by Kevin Rodney Sullivan (How
Stella Got Her Groove Back) and starring Omar
Epps as Upchurch, the movie is an uncompromising look
at a remarkable life. Premieres on Showtime in Sept. 2002.
